I finally finished my EMT class and successfully passed the final, the practicals, and, last week, the National Registry exam. You'd think I'd be able to do more photography now...well, sort of. In the past month or so, our area has had three wildfires and a fairly large structure fire. I did manage to get out to Dinosaur National Monument and Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park, so I will be posting some photos from there. The rest of the photos I've taken have been on wildfires. The current fire, the East Peak Fire, is at about 12,000 acres burned. I was out the first couple of days on the fireline, then out one day on an ambulance. I'll probably get out a few more days on the fire, but since the Feds took over, we have 300 or more firefighters here from as far away as Minnesota. I do have a day job, so I can't get out to help as much as I would like.
Won't be many (if any) updates for a while....
I started an EMT class last week that will consume most of my spare time through the end of April at least. On a happier note, once I start EMT shifts, I can hopefully upgrade to a better lens!
About time!
My copy of Lightroom 4 arrived today. Let's see...due in the 20th of December, arrived the 4th of January...only 16 days late! Good thing my wife paid for 3-day shipping! I'm really looking forward to learning and using Lightroom. I may even go back and re-process a lot of my older photos as I learn the program.
Freakin' UPS!
I'm a bit put out with UPS at the moment. My wife ordered for me a copy of Lightroom 4 as a Christmas present. She paid for 3-day shipping and it was supposed to be delivered on the 20th. On the 21st, it showed on their tracking site as being in Phoenix and having been mis-sorted and also had a note that informed me that, due to heavy volume, all guarantees were void. Um...did they not expect a lot of shipping at Christmas? I know this isn't their first year doing this.
Finally, on the 23rd, it showed a delivery date of the 27th - one full week after it was supposed to have been delivered. Today I look at the tracking and it shows that
Finally!
I haven't posted much lately because I haven't been taking many photos - I just haven't had the motivation - however, this week I have started to pick the camera up and shoot some more. I don't know what exactly it was, but something this past week has gotten me to take a slightly different look at the towns that I live and work in. I may be focusing on old buildings for a while, but who knows? I've also been thinking of getting out at night and practicing some night photography. Hope I get something good out of all of this....
